4-Letter Word
2024
Papier mache, tissue paper, cardboard, ribbon, puff paint, rhinestones, pipe cleaners
17 x 12 x 9 inches
Playing off Barbie styling head toys, I physically represent 4-letter words women come to hear and identify with about ourselves. The words “look, easy, rape, kill, mama, slut, keep, bang, maid, cunt,” represented as barrettes in her hair, swirl around our heads, accumulate in our minds, and hold us back.
Baby Eve
2023
Thrifted vase and fake flowers, broken ceramic hand, found satan pitchfork, ribbon, gold letters, newspaper, crayon, glitter, google eyes
10 x 20 x 10 inches
After growing up with the story of Biblical Adam and Eve, they live rent-free in my head. I wanted to make a funny childish representation of the story told to children about the fall of man (where we learn it was Eve’s fault).
Babygate
2024
Found wooden baby gate, fabric, rope, ribbon, yarn, fake flowers, family jewelry, plastic barrettes, plastic beads, lace, wool, nylon stockings, paint
39 x 30 x 3 inches
Using a found baby gate as the frame, I invite the viewer to follow patterns woven through the left side of the gate, which represent my maternal lineage. Here, I’ve included materials (jewelry, ribbon) gleaned from my grandmothers. The right side represents me, or the daughter. The right side maintains a connection and some of the same materials, but the pattern is changed and growing out of the frame in new ways. I am child-free by choice and have named this piece “Babygate.” The quote around the frame reads: “Woman is not born: she is made. In the making, her humanity is destroyed. She becomes symbol of this, symbol of that: mother of the earth, slut of the universe; but she never becomes herself because it is forbidden for her to do so.” — Andrea Dworkin

Birth Control Altar
2024
Vintage medicine cabinet, bandaid box, and magazines; paint, fabric, lace, plastic barrettes, clay, condom, Plan B, fake flowers, prescription bottle, ceramic Mary and stroller, plastic beads, toy cup, candle, lighter, glitter, apron
16 x 39 x 7 (20 opened) inches
Inspired by the Virgin Mary altars I saw in Italy, I wanted to pay homage to the forms of birth control I have had during my reproductive years. I pray we expand our reproductive rights and access to birth control.
Daddy Stitch
2024
Personal embroidered baby blanket, thread
36 x 54 inches
Using the baby blanket embroidered for me by my great-grandmother Rose, aim to engage the viewer in conflicting emotions of love and horror. I'm also calling attention to the unhinged practice of adding an "extra" stitch to a woman after a vaginal tear happens during childbirth. To make her tighter, for the dad *wink, wink*

Women are placed on a pedestal, aloft and immobilized. Stuck in the same gender patterns and archetypes, history repeats.

30.5 x 24.5 x 1 inches
Frustrated by the flippant tone of this opinion piece, I examined my own disordered eating patterns while wondering wtf “ordered” eating even is. Triggers for eating disorders may not be well understood but mixed messages from culture, as well as the profitable food, diet, and beauty industries, certainly do not help.
Princess Bride

Princess Playboy
2024
Found frame and curtain rod, paper cut outs from books and Playboy magazines
22.5 x 29 x 1 inches
Using Disney Princess books and Playboy magazines, I invite the viewer into a collage of the contradictory messages girls receive from birth. Especially in the context of purity culture, it feels as though we’re expected to be a Princess in the streets and a Playboy Bunny in the sheets.
